He was the best call Papi ever he teach me how to be kind to others he always asked do you want to watch the gators and I would say yes sometimes he loved his whole entire family he cared about others he was the bestest grandpa I will always miss him forever


Yesterday we said our final goodbyes to my papa, although it breaks my heart I know you’re dancing in heaven looking down on us right now. I never thought I’d have to say goodbye to my built in best friend. You were there from the very beginning I got to hear all the stories from me falling asleep on the lawn mower to watching the wiggles before nap time. You taught me many things how to read, how to fish, and how to drive. the only thing you didn’t teach me was how to cope without you. I’ll miss showing you my nails, having you complain about how long I take in the shower “save the whales” and being able to call you whenever to complain about any minor inconveniences. You snuck me money and told me not to tell a soul even when nana got onto you. Any trip we took involved McDonald’s to get me a wimpy burger as you called them and there was definitely a lot of them as I went with you everywhere. You listened to me sing and watched me dance even when I interrupted your argument with the tv. You pushed me to be the best person I could be and never let me settle for less, showed me how to treat people with kindness and compassion. They truly broke the mold with you. Im not sure what I did to be blessed with a papa like you but I’m so thankful I was. This isn’t a goodbye its a see you later. I love you most papa always and forever.👼🏼🤍

I am so sorry to hear of Floyd’s passing, I met him several times while Sharon and I worked together at Prudential. 
I pray that Sharon and family will make it through the next weeks and months with continued healing as I know how everyone was so devoted. 

I remember when I started dating Justin. Justin had a football game that day his parents came to his game and Justin told me to go there so I walked by myself to meet and sit with them. Justin brought me to his home to meet every one I was nervous and ended up dropping the dinner plates I was so embarrassed. I remember dad told me it was ok and helped calm my nerves. I started to come over every weekend  when I was 15 year old. I had been living with them every weekend because I went to fsdb and had been staying in the school dorms. I was welcomed into Justin’s family with open arms. Foyld was always proud to show how good he could cook. We had the best cookouts with him behind the grill. Me and him alway talked about what to cook together. He loved to fish and had many talents including fixing whatever was broken around the house. My favorite memories include watching the gator games together. He always did anything and Everything for me and my kids. whatever I needed him to do he willingly helped, and Never turned his back on me.  He and I got frustrated with each other sometimes and we had misunderstandings with communications LOL but he learned how to finger spell so he could communicate with me. He always went with me every where and went on road trips with us. He taught me many things about the world but most importantly he taught me family always come first before anything . He could be hardhead as everyone knows especially when he said “ you have a right to your wrong opinion” but he was the best father in law and grandfather we could have ever asked for.  He became my protector. I will forever cherish the memories we had.  Love you always your daughter in law Janet 

I have lots of fond memories of Floyd.  He was such a good husband, father, Papi and friend.  He shared Sharon with me and welcomed me into his home when I didn’t have one of my own when Macon died. He put up with me playing games til wee hours of the morning with Sharon.   He loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. He was an awesome cook, I was able to taste a great many of his concoctions.  He made the best spaghetti I’ve ever eaten even though he forgot to add meat. Lol. His biscuits and cornbread were to die for oh and of course his famous chocolate pie. I loved watching him teach his grandchildren how to cook. He loved including them.  Thank you Floyd for your friendship and welcoming me in your family. You will be greatly missed. See you on the other side my friend.

Floyd loved to cook.  He collected Southern Living magazines for their recipes.  He was very good at it too.  He could whip up a gourmet meal or make goulash that in his words, would make your tongue flap.  He would use every spice and pan in the house. God bless Sharon for cleaning up after him all of these years.  I loved everything he made with the exception of his squirrel stew.  I am sure it tasted good but he put the squirrel in almost whole to freak us out.   Yes, he also had a great sense of humor. 
He was the true “Jack of All Trades”.  He could do plumbing, carpentry, electrical, sheet rock, painting and more.  And he was a perfectionist when it came to this, thus sometimes taking him longer than most to finish a job.   He and Ronnie did a lot of “side jobs” together and there was always a funny story to tell.  Like the time Floyd accidently knocked over and broke a lady’s Holy water.  When he offered to replace it, she said “you can’t, it came from the Holy Land”!  
Floyd was good debater.  Lord help you if you entered into a political conversation with him.  He kept up with all of the news and sports and could converse on most any subject until literally the “cows come home”. 
He loved country music and especially the oldies like Hank Williams. Conway Twitty and George Jones.  He was a good dancer too.  I’ve seen him swing Sharon around on the dance floors many times.
You have very few friends in life that you can call and they will always come, no matter how big or small of an issue it is.  Floyd was one of those friends.  I could go on and on but will end by saying we love you dearly. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.  Thanks for all of the wonderful memories.  Until we meet again, my brother...  

Ronnie & Debbie Sapp


We have been best friends with Floyd and Sharon for almost 45 years.  Such a sad, sad day it is to have lost a beloved friend who was more like a brother.  But there are memories galore…
Floyd played 3rd base and Ronnie played 2nd and they were the dynamic duo when it came to softball.  He was an avid sports fan and was like a sports encyclopedia.  He could tell you who made a first down in the 3rd quarter in a super bowl game in 1970. He loved all sports but especially his beloved Gators. 
Our kids grew up together and went on vacations together for years.  Camping, fishing, boating, to the beach, spring training games, Key West, and more on a regular basis.   We spent most holidays together too.  Each New Years, we would take pictures of Floyd and Ronnie’s head to compare their hair loss.  We finally stopped when they both became fairly even with no hair left on top. 
Floyd was a very strong man, physically but he had a soft heart and would literally give you the shirt off of his back.  He could be a daredevil and survived some crazy antics over the years.  He would tackle just about anything but he hated cold water.  We could never get him in the springs when we went swimming there.  He said he was “allergic to cold water”. 
Floyd loved his family with all of his big heart. He could gently hold the newborns and would protect them like a papa bear as they grew up. His grandkids were the apple of his eye and many of his happiest times as of late was to see them grow athletically, it is in their genes.  There are still people who call Floyd the greatest athlete to ever come out of Baldwin.

Sharon, Sheila and boys - I mean men! Dang y’all grew up . My heart breaks for y’all,  Floyd was the kindest soul I ever knew. He was my 1st cousin that I called uncle Floyd cause he was like a. Uncle to me. I remember he and Lloyd throwing me to each other in the yard like a football, which explains a few things🙂. He always had a soft word but also had a helpful guiding hand.  I always looked forward to his visits when I was younger and when I got old enough I always tried to see if I could pal around with him. Life always takes us and sends us separate ways but our hearts are always back where we were the happiest and I was the happiest when I had the attention of Floyd and Lloyd because I knew my day would would be full of adventure. I will miss you Floyd but I’ll see you soon. You left here one month to the day that my Bryson left here . I hope y’all have met up and are rejoicing. Save a place for me. Carl

Floyd was a kind and gentle soul who loved his Sharon, children, grandchildren,  and the rest of his family  above all else. From the looks of all those pictures, you have many beautiful memories of your time together. May you all be each other’s comfort at this time, and always. We will keep you all in our hearts and prayers. God’s speed Floyd, love to you all.

Sharon, I am so saddened to hear of Floyd's death and your loss .  We had many great times together, especially when working together @ Ingram Sheet Metal and Local 85.  I wish we had spent more time together since then.  Life is short, I am glad Floyd got to enjoy the good times with you and your family as long as he did ..

Floyd was a dear man - I never saw him angry.  He always seemed so patient, kind, and even-keeled.  When I first introduced my husband to our Jacksonville cousins, they took him hunting.  Floyd ended up saying (with his thick Southern accent), "That John, he fit right in!"  I never forgot that and the memory always brings a smile to my face.  Floyd told me once that he always wanted to see the Chicago Cubs play.  I sure wish I had made that happen for him.  We always think we will have more time.  Floyd, I love you, and you left us too soon.  RIP Floyd.

My favorite memory was Thanksgiving 2017 in Cedar Rapids, IA.  Floyd kept telling me he was going to make his chocolate ice box pie and it was a favorite!  He sat at the kitchen island and told everyone what he needed.  One man had 5 people moving in all directions to make this pie and if we weren't moving fast enough, he let Sharon know!  ( She was the slow mover).  Sharon finally stopped and said, when I make dinner, this is how I am going to do it.  I will sit at the counter and tell everyone what I need and take credit for making it!!  By the way, the pie was GREAT!!

My dad was the best man I’ve ever had the privilege of being with. He taught me so many things about life, but above all how to be a man.  I loved watching him and mom and the life they gave us kids. I’ll never forget the sporting practices and games he attended, the moments in life we shared together. Dad you are gone but definitely not forgotten. You left this world too soon I believe,  but knowing that you did your part. I love you always and forever. Your red dog, Dusty.

It’s impossible to find the words to fill the void that Floyd left behind. I’ll remember him for his kindness, his strength, and the lifetime of love he created for his beautiful wife, Sharon and his children. His life was truly blessed and He was a true blessing to others. May you rest easy, brother.

My uncle, Floyd Kilgore, was a strong man, a man's man and an all around good man.  I was lucky enough to have multiple men in my life to show me what it meant to be a man.  I got my passion for sports from him though.  He made sure if I wanted to play a sport I did alongside Justin and Dusty.  He took me to practice, watched my games and coached me with my cousin's (really my brothers).  I remember those hot days sitting in his S10 out in center field reading the paper and ready to offer advice after practice.  He never interrupted practice, but if our coach was lacking in a certain area you could bet all 4 of us would be at the park working on it before the next game.  This is a small glimpse into Floyd Kilgore, he was a great influence on me and who I am today.  I am so thankful to have had you in my life.  RIP Uncle Floyd. Your other son, Pinner. 

I will miss Uncle Floyd dearly .  My memories of staying the night ( sleeping on the floor in your room ) and waiting for the moment to jump up and read the news paper with him in the mornings were my favorite .  He use to tell me “ I got your nose” and I always believe him. Loved learning to cook or help cook. He taught me to drive and to fish . In my older years I loved watching sports with him and enjoying a beverage . He always told me how much he loved me and how proud he was of me . I was proud to call him my uncle and beyond blessed to have him in my life . Thank you for sharing him with me . In my heart he will always be . 

Sharon, My heart goes out to you and your family. My God hold you in his arms and carry all of you through this very difficult times.
