

Harold “Buzz” Bumbarger passed away surrounded by family, on June 22, 2022 after a long and hard battle against Parkinson’s and Dementia. Buzz was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Oliver Bumbarger and Leona Hutsko Bumbarger on April 13, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy L. Cleveland. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 61 years, Delilah “Dee” Rigdon Bumbarger, his adored daughter Tanya Arnett, his much appreciated and loved son-in-law Ken Arnett, the lights-of-his-life, his three beloved grandchildren Kaley Arnett Harlan (Andrew), Kameron Arnett and Kathryn Arnett, nieces Amy Ramirez-Hunn, Alisa Cleveland , Angela Cleveland, nephew Dwayne Cleveland, and nine grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition he is survived by his sister-in-law Carol Gay (Bob), brothers-in-law Jerry Rigdon (LaVon) and Harry Rigdon, and their children, eight nieces/nephews and five grandnieces/nephews by marriage, plus a large extended family and many friends.
He was a beloved husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. Buzz was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. He never said an unkind word to anyone, or about anyone. He loved hunting and fishing. He never brought home much game. He just wanted to be in the woods and watch the deer graze. He did however bring home lots of fish and enjoyed many evenings shrimping in the St. Johns.
He served in the United States Navy and was assigned to Jacksonville, Florida in 1958 where he met Dee. During the Cuban missile crisis, he served on one of the ships that surrounded Cuba to protect our country. He was a designer/draftsman employed in the engineering department of Jacksonville Shipyards from 1963 until its closing in 1990. He continued to work in that field until his retirement in 2007. He then joined Dee in selling real estate. He was a member of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors for over twenty years. He was a member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist, helping cook Wednesday night dinners for a number of years.
The family will hold a private family service. In remembrance of Buzz, please hug your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you.
