Harold was a kind gentle spirit, always quick to smile and lend a hand to anyone in need. Most people including his family knew Harold to be someone that was not comfortable sitting in place. He was always busy working on projects, fixing, building, painting, carving, woodworking and gardening. Always on the go, like a hummingbird, gave him the ability to enjoy as much food as he wanted along with plenty of sweets without gaining a pound. Worked in retail for 22 years for F.W. Woolworth and Ben Franklin. Working for AT&T as a cable fault location testing & tracing technician was extremely rewarding as Harold was often recognized by the engineering staff as the go to guy when they needed a talented and dedicated person in the field to quickly isolate problems and restore services.
Harold often referred to his wife of 60 years as an angel. Based on observations from their children, there is no doubt he received an abondance of love and care until his very last day. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was a highlight for all involved especially if something was created or fixed during their time together.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, children Renee (Regina) and Stephen (Mitzi), and grandchildren, Matthew (Kala), Nicholas (Elizabeth) and Kaylee. He is also survived by sister Joyce Spaulding.
The family would also like to thank the staff at River Garden that provided tender and thorough care to Harold and the family in the past year. Considering the challenges associated with COVID, the staff at River Garden were as accommodating as possible while managing risks. They were a wonderful extension of family and took great care of him.
