LCDR Harold "Hal" Yates, Jr. began his final deployment to join his maker on September 9, 2020. He was born on March 5, 1934 in Tullahoma, Tennessee to Harold Yates and Ida Marie O'Kelly. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with distinction and dedication for 26 years, retiring as a LCDR, MSC, USN. Following his military career, he served as a Nursing Administrator in Northern Florida. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family. Preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ida Marie, his brother Jerry, his sister Betty Jean (BJ) and his sons Edwin and Timothy. Hal leaves behind his wife of 63 years Janet (Gledhill) Yates, three grandchildren, Shawna, Josh, and Tori and three great-grandchildren Haylee, Chevy and Joshua. We are all better for having known and associated with him and look forward to the day we will all be rejoined together. A memorial service will be held at a later date when the Covid 19 regulations and restrictions permit.
