KING - Mr. Harry Norman King, 87, passed away on his birthday, August 15, 2015. A native of Jacksonville, Mr. King had retired from Turner Electrical Works and was a long time member of Norwood Baptist Church. He was also a veteran, serving in the US Army. In addition to his work and church, he volunteered for many years at the North Jax Sports Association and Highlands Little League. He was known to many, through the years, as “Pops”. Mr. King was predeceased by his wife, Peggy in 1989. His surviving family includes: his daughter, Laura (Gary) Ferguson; his grandsons, Dale, Sean (Brittany) and Joshua; his great grandchildren, Devon and Madison; his sisters, Betty (Jack) Patterson and Edna (William) Hardee; a brother, Snooky (Jan) King; a special brother and sister in law, Raymond and Charlie Jean King and several nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 22,2015 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. with Rev. A. Darrel Murray officiating. There will be additional services at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
