Henry Clay Brown Jr., 87, a WWII veteran, was born in Birmingham, AL on December 13, 1926. Clay went home to be with the Lord at Community Hospice on January 16, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL, after a courageous eight year battle with Alzheimer's. His family moved to Jacksonville in 1962 to continue his career in the restaurant industry. From the late 70s through the early 90s, he and his family owned Uncle John's Pancake House at Beach and University Blvd. He enjoyed freshwater fishing, golf, baseball, college and professional football. He was a long time member of University Baptist Church and a current member of Kernan Road Baptist Church. He is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 64 years, who was his primary care giver in his last years; his daughter Sherry J. McFadden; sons Henry C. Brown III and John W. Brown; grandchildren Christopher C. McFadden; and Sheena L. Brown; great grandchildren C.J. McFadden and S. Nikki McFadden. Visitation will be from 2-4pm, Sunday, January 19 at Greenlawn Funeral Home 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207. Graveside service will be held at Arlington Park Cemetery 6920 Lane Star Jacksonville, FL. 32211, officiated by Rev.Jack J. Dinsbeer, Monday, January 20, 3pm.
