He was born on November 24, 1953, in Quemado de Güines, located in the Santa Clara province of Cuba. In 1967, he migrated to Miami, Florida, beginning a new chapter marked by resilience, determination, and hard work.
As a young man, Humberto was a star basketball player in high school, known for his athleticism, discipline, and competitive spirit—qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.
In 1979, Humberto met the love of his life, Berta, whom he married in 1980. Together, they built a life centered on family, commitment, and perseverance. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to two children: Gabriel, born in 1982, and Amanda, born in 1986.
Humberto worked for decades as a sheet metal foreman, earning deep respect for his skill, leadership, and work ethic. Through his craft, he helped shape the Miami skyline, contributing to the construction of many prominent buildings, including the JW Marriott Marquis, 10 Museum Park, Gameworks at Sunset Place, and Braddock Senior High School—the same school his two children later attended, a source of quiet pride for him.
Outside of work, Humberto enjoyed playing chess and golf, and valued long road trips with his family, later continuing those travels with Berta in his later years.
Humberto was a man of quiet strength and steady presence—firm yet gentle, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He expressed love through action and responsibility, and lived by values he passed on to his children through example.
Though his passing leaves a profound absence, his legacy lives on through his family, his work, and the life he built. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
May he rest in peace.
