

Jack Carney passed away peacefully on Dec 1st at the age of 88 years old. Jack was a patriot and war hero of the “Greatest Generation,” and nobly served his country for nearly 40 years in uniform and as a civil servant at NARF JAX. He was born in Jacksonville on January 24, 1924, and served in the China-Burma-India Theater during WWII as a radioman/waist gunner on a B-25. Upon his return, he married the former Juanita Gainous on June 21, 1947 and they were wed for 62 years prior to her passing three years ago. He truly lived a full life. He was generous, travelled extensively, loved his family, friends and football, and enjoyed his pilgrimages to Las Vegas. He now rests in peace, reunited with his Lord and beloved wife. Jack is preceded in death by his wife Juanita, his sisters Marie, Nellie, Alice, Ethel and Judy, and his brother George.
He is survived by his brother William Carney, two children Cheryl and Mitch, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Friday, December 7 from 5-7PM, with Rosary at 7PM at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, 8 Dec at 12PM at Hardage Giddens, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery (Saint Mary’s).
