

Jack Dow passed away on Monday, May 20th, 2013, after a sudden illness, at the age of 93. Jack was born in Davenport, Iowa on September 27, 1918 to Beulah and Darrel Earl Dow. Grad-uating with honors from Davenport H.S., he began work in the Millwork industry before joining the Army during WW II. He served in the 10th Mountain Division (Denver, CO) in communications and finance.
After the war, he rose to the rank of Regional Vice President and General Manager at Rock Island Millwork Co. He married his beloved Geraldine Pierce in 1947 and they had two children. After retirement, Jack and Gerry moved to Arizona where Jack enjoyed his Ham Radio station, golf, and travel, especially to England and France. He and Gerry relocated to Jacksonville, FL, in 2009 to be near family. He is survived by his son Richard and wife Melissa, daughter Traci and husband Michael Wyatt, as well as grand-children Colin Wyatt, Christopher Dow, Laura Dow, and great-grandson Warren Rogers.
The family acknowledges the many kindnesses and nurturing environment of the Carriage Club, Jacksonville. A memorial service will be conducted at the Carriage Club on May 25, 2013 at 11 AM, with Rev. Victoria Hamilton and Rev. William Hamilton, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Springfield, officiating. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Miracle Team Fund.
