
Jack Price, 87, born on March 16, 1928 in Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Finegold-Price, children Ned (Sue), Susan, and Michael, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, brother Sam (Faye), and sisters Florence Schemer (Jerry) and Eunice Zisser (Barry). Through marriage to Miriam, Jack gained loving stepchildren, Robert Finegold and Sandy Weisstein (Steven), 2 grandchildren and another great-grandchild. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy, and parents Isser and Rae Price. Jack graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, then the University of Florida in building construction. While in college at UF, Jack was an active member of Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Jack served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on his 20th birthday on March 16, 1948, and received the World War II Victory Medal. Jack married Judith (Lippman) Price in 1950, and they were married 50 years until her death in 2000. Jack found great luck when he married his current wife, Miriam, on July 5, 2009. Jack and Miriam enjoyed each other and their families for 6 ½ years. Miriam’s career as a family practice physician and her nurturing love for Jack gained him extra years of family and life’s pleasures. Jack was inducted into the Masonic Lodge, John H. Pratt Lodge No. 261 in 1954. Jack had a stellar career in construction and real estate development, from homes to commercial properties. Jack was an active member of the Board of Trustees of River Garden Hebrew Home for the Aged, where he was a former President. Jack also was an active member of the Board for The Coves independent living on the River Garden campus. Jack also was a former President of Jewish Family and Community Services. The theme of Jack’s life was to improve the life of others, whether they be his family, the elderly and disadvantaged, and to perpetuate the teachings and history of the Jewish people through example and education. Jack, together with his brother Sam, took great pride in their contribution to the establishment of the Isser and Rae Price Library of Judaica at the University of Florida. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery - Gate 5 in the Beth Shalom section.
