Jacob “Jake” Daniel Long, 21, passed away in his home on Monday January 11, 2016. He was born on February 22, 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida. Jake was a truly dynamic soul. As he progressed through his life, he found himself equivalently fascinated by the arts, sciences, mathematics, computers, and spirituality.
Jacob was an avid reader of books that scaled many genres. He was best described as intelligence with a happy spirit– one who could make anyone laugh. Some of his other passions included, chemistry, cooking his favorite foods, fire spinning performance, and mastering a variety of musical instruments. He cherished seizing the moment and enjoyed spending time with those he was close to. Jake regarded life as an existence that should be filled with love, happiness, fun experiences and mutual understandings ("good vibes"). His genuine smile was the hallmark of his affections– a gift to not only those he loved, but also to individuals whom he knew little about. With his humility, wittiness and indiscriminate concern for others, by the time of his demise, Jake was able to touch so many people– a feat that would take anyone other than him a lifespan well beyond the 21 years he was given.
Jacob was the eldest child of Sarah Johns Gonzalez and Tomas Manuel Gonzalez and older brother to Haley Michelle Johns. He was a cherished grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
