J.E. was born in Macon, Georgia on December 12, 1927. He moved to Jacksonville in 1956.
He was a charter member at Ft. Caroline Baptist Church where he was very active. Each week he looked forward to attending Sunday School with his friends. Tailgating at Florida football games with his family and friends was a Family Tradition.
After High School he joined the Navy and was a signalman on the USS New Jersey during World War II. He married the love of his life, Patsy, in 1951 in Macon, Georgia. They were married over 70 years. He founded J.E. Abercrombie Inc. in 1969. For over 60 years he was a University of Florida Grand Gator Booster. For many years he enjoyed fishing and entertaining at their river house in Welaka, FL and their home in Jacksonville. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling in their motor home. He loved cooking chicken and ribs for friends, family and their church family. He was a wonderful husband devoted to Patsy. They both lived a wonderful, happy life.
