
James (Jim) Franklin Scott, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2012 surrounded by his family. Jim was born on March, 3, 1919 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Frank and May Scott. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, Jim worked for Southern Bell in Atlanta, Georgia. He was transferred to Jacksonville in 1957 where he retired at the age of 65. For the past 55 years, Jim was a faithful member of San Jose Episcopal Church where he led several ministries. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, rooting for the Ramblin' Wreck and the Gators, and spending time with his family. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Peggy. He is survived by his wife Bunny, his children Jim Jr. (Carol) of St. Johns, Margie Stormes (Dan) of Jacksonville, Bob (Kris) of St. Johns, and Laurie Austin (Steve) of Ponte Vedra Beach; his grandchildren Shannon Nunley (Jay), Kristie Stormes, Ryan Scott (Rebecca), Jeff Scott (Ashley), Maggie, James, and Andrew Austin, Elizabeth and Wilson Scott; and his great-granddaughters Addison and Alyssa Nunley.
The family will recieve friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Boulvevard.
A funeral service for Jim will be held at San Jose Episcopal Church on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to San Jose Episcopal Church.
