Absalon Aleger was 84-year-old. He was born on August 23, 1936 in a beautiful community near Port-au-Prince, Haiti, named Drouillard. He immigrated in the US on January 28th, 1972. God called Absalon home on January 29, 2021.
Absalon worked at a chemical plant in the state of New Jersey for about thirty years. He was dedicated to his job; never called out in all those years. He was a carpenter by training and by trade. Absalon’s greatest passion and love was for his family first and foremost, then for his homeland Haiti. Absalon never missed an opportunity to tell someone about his hometown (Drouillard) and Haiti. Definitely, he was a fanatic when it comes to Haiti. His dream for Haiti was one of opportunity for all and a self-sufficient nation. Absalon was a big Soccer fan, and a sport fanatic in general. He enjoyed great conversations, discussions about politics, and certainly had his opinion about how he thought Haiti should be run. Absalon was a man of his word. A Yes was a Yes; A No was as well. Absalon loved God. He loved the Church. He was a person of deep faith and spirituality. He was a great advisor to so many. Absalon always encouraged people to make the right choice. In that regards, he touched so many lives. Absalon was a pragmatic philosopher; he had a well-suited answer to any and every question. Absalon’s biggest achievement was in the life and education of his children. He was proud of them but was too humble to say it. But He Was!
Absalon was fourth among eight children born of Charitable and Chounoune. He survived by two sons Baudelaire and Vorbes and one daughter Chary Aleger, seven grandchildren, by his wife Yolaine Cadot Aleger, by his sister Philomene, and two brothers Louis and Elie. Absalon was sick for over five years before the Lord called him home. On behalf on his children, the rest of his family, and friends…many many THANKS to his wonderful wife Yolaine who took great care of him till his very last day.
