

REXFORD – Jeffrey Philip Rexford passed away peacefully on the 12th of March 2019 at the age of 58. He was born on the 20th of April 1960 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts to Carl and Gwen Rexford. On the 2nd of May 1982 he married the love of his life, Rosemarie Oppedisano. As a couple they prospered and raised three strong young men. In turn they welcomed their beautiful granddaughters into the world. None of this would have been possible without his dedicated service in the United States Navy. Stationed at SIMA Newport, on the USS Miller, the USS Perry, at SIMA Mayport, on the USS Frederick, at Washington DC, before retiring as Command Master Chief of Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida after 21 years of active duty. Continuing his career as a Site Manager at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Center for Cancer Treatment, he found his calling in working with a team developing cutting edge cancer treatments trying to improve people’s lives.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Rosemarie Oppedisano Rexford; his son Nicholas and wife Darla Rexford, son Matthew and wife Alix Rexford, and son Alexander Rexford, his granddaughters, Mila, Arianna, and Josephine Rexford. He also leaves behind his parents Carl and Gwen Rexford; Theresa Oppedisano, his sister Ann McClaughry, brother Brad, and numerous other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Sophia Rexford and his father-in-law Anthony Oppedisano. The wake will be held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Bvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211 on Sunday, March 17th from 1pm to 5 pm. There will be a service held at the funeral home on Monday, March 18th at 10:30 am followed by burial services at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
