Jeremy Ray Shumate was born August 24th, 1986. Jeremy’s stomping grounds were the Southside of Jacksonville, more specifically Grove Park. He spent many summers with his friends skateboarding at Kona and just being kids; oh man the stories he could tell. Jeremy was the father to four amazing kids, and his kids were the light of his life.
To see his eyes light up the many times he took his daughter to her father daughter dances, giving her flowers and a big hug for her dance recitals, or even just spending time out by the pool.
His sons, all three of them loved spending time at the pool, the beach, the park, or just looking at their dad’s massive toy collection.
Jeremy was a avid toy collector and knew all things Thunder Cats, Master of the Universe, Dragon Ball Z, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and anything else 80s.
He had a love for the old school stuff, for example he loved hooking up an old Nintendo and playing with the kids; you ask his kids what their favorite memory was and it would be this.
Anywhere we went, if there was a toy store, we were stopping to see what treasures he could find. He always loved a good toy.
In Jeremy’s younger years you could catch him in the BJ’s parking lot, at the local car meets. Jeremy was known around town for his red Mitsubishi Evolution. This car was modified to the max, and he enjoyed many late night meet ups and even a race or two, but that’s our little secret.
Jeremy loved racing Slot cars; he even got a job working at the Slot cars track so he could pay for his hobby. He even made it to a few Championship races down in Daytona.
Jeremy is survived by his four amazing kids, Trinity, Lucas, Connor and Parker Shumate; his mother Deborah Northrup; his father Timothy Shumate; his aunt Tammy Nicolas (deceased-Jimmy); and his uncle Brad Scott (Doris).
Preceded family members are maternal grandmother Patricia Scott and maternal grandfather Gordon Scott; maternal great-grandmother Anes Stike; paternal grandmother, Opal Shumate; deceased stepfather, Randy Northrup; and his beloved dog Lulu.
A visitation for Jeremy will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME PA, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211, followed by a memorial service at noon.
