Jerry Raymond Gugel

Jerry was born on March 2, 1940 in Peru, Indiana.

Dr. Jerry Gugel graduated from Paxon High School in 1958 and completed his undergrad in Education/Psychology from Jacksonville University. He also served in the Air National Guard. Jerry obtained his Masters in Education from Florida State University. He completed his Doctorate in Education from Nova South University in 1975. Jerry worked in the Duval County School System for 33 years. His favorite non-profits that he supported were the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville, Cathedral Arts Project Inc., Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and Equality Florida. Jerry was always very passionate about music and art education for the youth. He loved to attend fundraising events for nonprofits and the theatre. He was a member of Ponte Vedra Inn and Club for over 50 years.

Jerry Gugel is survived by his Godson, Marcus Jones, brothers, Roger Gugel, Fred Christman, sister in law Wanda Christman, nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie Raymond Gugel and Helen Odett (nee:Smith) Christman. His sister in law Betty Gugel.

A celebration of life will held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San JOse Blvd. on November 4, 2023 from 2pm-5pm.
