

JoAnn Lucas Menefee, 55, of Jacksonville, FL, passed November 28th, 2011. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James W. Menefee, Jr. of Jacksonville, two daughters, Mary Beth Patton (Robert) of Jacksonville and Amy J. Kooba (Ofer) of Atlantic Beach, step daughter, Shannon Monahan (Mike) of Clearwater and step son James W. Menefee, III (Hera) of China, five grandchildren, Morgan Patton, Grant Patton, Dylan Kooba, Jacob Taliaferro, and Caden Monahan. Also survived by Mother-in-law, Mary Lou Menefee of Jacksonville, brother, Arthur Lucas of Beckley, WV, niece, Lee Andrea Knapp of Ponte Vedra, and nephews Jason Lucas of Wheeling, WV and Nathanial Lucas of Beckley, WV along with many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean P. Lucas of Beckley WV, father, Arnold E. Lucas of Beckley, brother, Arnold "Bo" Lucas of Beckley, WV and granddaughter; Carson E. Patton of Jacksonville, FL. JoAnn was most proud of her children and grandchildren and will be most remembered by her hearty laugh and generous ways. As the founder and owner of Phoenix Bulldog Kennels, her passion was her championship English Bulldogs and excellence in breed and show. JoAnn had a proven track record with over 50 championship bulldogs and her biggest accomplishment of "Best in Breed" award for the 2004 “128th" West Minster Dog Show. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.The family suggests donations made to Dreams Come True/Special Times Program - AngelLove in memory of JoAnn Menefee.
