

After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. John was a production manager for Frederick Post Co. in New Jersey for 26 years. Upon retiring from there he became part owner of Florida Blueprint Service. He was very active in the Teaneck Elks and served as an Exalted Ruler. He and his wife Gloria resided in New Jersey till 1978 when they moved to Jacksonville, Florida. He was married to Gloria Busch for 57 years, after her passing he married Kathy Garofalow.
He is survived by his children, John Gass of Thomasville, Georgia, Barbara DeSantis of Jacksonville, Florida, Susan Samela of Washington, New Jersey, and Melitta Kirkland of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving from his second marriage are, Kathi Williams of Jacksonville, Florida, Angela Sugameli of South Carolina, and Rosemary Coen of Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
John was a man of great kindness and generosity. His unconditional love was felt by all who knew him.
His family was the focus of his life and he was blessed with a wonderful family and friends. He had a rich and fulfilling life.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral.
