

John Patrick “Pat” Maloney (Daddy-his children always called him) passed away on Sunday July 25, 2021 in Jacksonville, FL at age 84. Mr. Maloney was born on Sept. 19, 1936 in Austin, MN. to Cyril Maloney and Lilly Kleinfelder Maloney. Pat attended Austin High School in Austin, MN. Joined the U. S. Air Force in August 1954 and retired in August 1982. When he retired he had 28 years of service and had toured 56 countries.
While in the Air Force his primary assignments were Senior Master SGT-A29490, Airborne Communications Superintendent, 14 years. 29373, Ground Radio Operations Supervisor 8 years. 20751, Morse Systems Operator 6 years. Last Duty assignment & major Command- 9 Airborne Command Control
Pat lived most of his life in Minnesota & Hawaii and a brief time in Palm Springs, CA. He relocated to Jacksonville, Florida October 2019 from California to be closer to his immediate family.
His special interests were swimming, diving, playing football, basketball and golf. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports competitions-especially the NFL Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers!
He loved playing cards and trying his luck at the Casinos. While residing at Grand Living at Tamaya he was their first Corn-Hole Champion! He also enjoyed fishing, reading, telling jokes, fine dining and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Ethel Maloney (whom passed away on January 26, 2020). Survivors include daughters, Patricia Penegor and Regina Thrift; sons, Patrick Maloney (Paula) and Michael Maloney (Carol); sister, Crystal Eack; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many other wonderful relatives and friends.
Mr. Maloney will have funeral services with Military Honors 11:30 am Thursday August 12, 2021 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
