John Rubin Price, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away at home on Sunday, April 27th at the age of 70. Born in Jacksonville on September 10, 1954, he grew up in Mandarin but lived in Middleburg for the last 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mandy, his sons Patrick (Jessica) and Dalton (Adrianna), and the two lights of his life, his granddaughters, Isla and Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Rubin Price Jr. and his father, Ellis. He will be sorely missed by his mother, Betty Price, his sisters, his brother, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Besides his family he loved hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing. He knew Bear Bay in the Ocala National Forest like the back of his hand, having hunted there all his life.
He planted and tended his beautiful garden with loving care and shared his vegetables with family and friends. He was a skilled carpenter like his maternal grandfather and he could build anything. He did it the old fashioned way. If Rubin built it, it was meant to last. Perhaps the thing he will be remembered for by so many family and friends is his storytelling. He entertained many a gathering with tales of his adventures and experiences, and there were many throughout his lifetime.
Services will be on Saturday, May 17th at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home on San Jose Blvd in Mandarin 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
