John was born on September 19, 1950 in Jacksonville Florida to Joseph and Badia (Akel) Salem. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Florida State University and worked in the Office of Financial Regulation for the State of Florida for 43 years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Sandra Mashour Salem and children Stephen John Salem, Mitchell John Salem, and Kristen Nicole Salem, in addition to his brother James Joseph Salem (Jan), and sister-in-laws Elaine Salem and Shadia Salem, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Joseph and Badia Salem, brothers Adil Salem, Fred Salem, and sister Lila Angelou.
John loved the outdoors, gambling, and restoring antiques. He was an avid sports fan, traveling to spring training and football games with his brother, cousins, and friends. Above all else, he treasured and prioritized spending time with his family. There will be a graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery on Tuesday, March 23rd at 11:00 for close friends and immediate family.
