John Richard Santo, known to friends as Rick, 61, passed away on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2018 at home in St. Johns, Florida. Rick was born in Wheeling, West Virginia to Robert Muriel Santo and Constance Moorehead Santo on April 22, 1957.
He married Kelly Santo on July 2, 1988 in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1975. Along with his wife, Kelly, he owned and operated Premier Lawnscapes for over twenty five years in the Jacksonville metropolitan area. He was a veteran and proudly served in the United States Army where he reached the rank of E-4 and was awarded a good conduct medal, sharpshooter, and hand grenade expert. After leaving the service in 1982, Rick went to work for the Naval Aviation Depot (NADEP) in Jacksonville, Florida as a jet engineer mechanic for over fifteen years. He had a passion for landscaping and was a member of The Professional Landscapers Association (PLSA). Rick deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. In his spare time, his favorite hobbies included refurbishing old cars and building computers.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Muriel Santo and Constance Moorehead Santo; his brother, James (Jimmy) Santo; his sister, Linda Santo; his brother, Robert Santo; and his sister, Constance (Connie) Santo.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty years, Kelly Santo, and his children, Chad, Ryan, Zach (Kimi), and Spencer. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Flemming and Marylin (Mimi) Perry and his precious grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary (Zevan), Lex, Jet, and Regan. Rick will forever be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218 in Lane 2.
