

STANFORD - John Charles Stanford passed away peacefully on September 12th, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on February 7, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Elizabeth Stanford. He moved to St. Augustine, Florida as a young boy and later to Jacksonville where he lived until the time of his death. John was a Photo Engraver by trade. John’s hobbies were fishing and spending time at the ball field either coaching or watching his children and grandchildren play ball. He was always their favorite spectator. He was an enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fan and was often found sporting a hat with their logo. The highlight of his later years included spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Carol Stanford, and his second wife, Doris Stanford. He is survived by his three siblings, Carol, Paul, and Lawrence (Robin), as well as three children with Carol, Kimala Stanford, Donna Kling, & John Charles Stanford, JR. (Katie), six grandchildren, Carole Kite Rios (Abelardo), Justin Kling (Angela), Christopher McDermott (Meagan), Addison Kling, Amy Stanford, and Cory Stanford, and two great-grandchildren, Maddox McDermott and Allie Kling. He is also survived by numerous family and friends. His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday September 17, 2015 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Taylor Homes Care Center at 6535 Chester Avenue.
