Dear Gerry,

It’s hard to find the right words to say goodbye. Even now, writing this, I find myself wishing I could just thank you one more time in person — to look you in the eye and tell you how much you changed my life.

You were more than just a good friend. You were a rare kind of person — fair, kind-hearted, and full of integrity. Once your mind was set there was no stopping you.  You carried yourself with quiet strength and purpose, always standing by what was right, especially with your customers, even when it wasn’t expedient. You gave generously. And you believed in people — you believed in me — at a time when no one else did.

You gave me an opportunity that changed the course of my life. I didn't know it at the time, but because of your support, I was able to complete my education and step into a future that seemed just out of reach. That opportunity led to a job that has shaped everything that followed — and I never forget that it started with your belief in me.

I always admired how deeply proud you were of your children — their education, their accomplishments, their dreams. It lit you up in a way that was beautiful to witness. You built a legacy not just through your own success and ambition, but through the lives of the people you lifted up — including me.

I love you, my friend. I carry your memory with deep gratitude and an even deeper sense of loss. You gave so much, often quietly, without needing recognition. But I recognize it — every day. And I will always be thankful.
