

Joseph (Jody) Alva Brandenburg, 81, died on June 10, 2024 and was on born on May 23, 1943 to Patricia and Roger Brandenburg. He was raised in Homestead, FL. He was considered Most Valuable Player in our family. Jody was fun – loving and inspired our family and those around him to be the best we could be.
From years of playing baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, to his rise to the corporate offices of Service Corporation International (SCI) as President of the Floral Division, hard work and dedication were key.
Jody married the love of his life in 1987, the former Janne Ferrell. Jody is survived by his wife, Janne, his brother, Roger Brandenburg (Joan), children Dale Linder (Elizabeth), Joel Brandenburg, Jr. (Ana), Lorelei Figueroa (Juan Carlos) and Elizabeth Brandenburg. He was a caring granddaddy to Dale Linder DiLalla, Joseph Brandenburg, III, Drew Daniel (Ashley), Emily Frattarelli (Josh), Brooke Brandenburg, Alexa Grace Linder, Eleanor Linder, Jackson Linder, Taelor Anne Linder and two great grandchildren Atlas Brandenburg and Willow Watson.
Jody served on the State Board of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services from 2005 through the time of his death and received several appointments by the Governor to be Chairman throughout his tenure.
Jody was a dedicated member of the Jacksonville community and beloved by many. He was a philanthropist to many charities including River Garden Senior Services, Community Hospice, Childrens Home Society of Florida, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Rotary Club of Jacksonville, Police Council of Jacksonville, Safari Club International, Cummer Museum Ponce De Leon Society, Museum of Contemporary Art and many others.
Jody was an avid outdoorsman having been on safari in Africa, many hunts in Argentina and other places in the world. He loved to travel with his wife to the South of France, a destination they enjoyed for over 15 years.
Jody worked until his death as President of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Homes and Cemeteries.
