I was in Mr. Casey's class in 1981-1982 as well. He was my favorite teacher of all time. I remember that he allowed us to bring our records to class as a reward after hard work. He was a great man. May he R.I.P.

Mr. Casey was one of my favorite teachers.  I had him in the 5th grade (1981-82) at Sheffield.  I learned a lot in his class and enjoyed some of the references to his military background.  His class was definitely one of the most memorable ones from my school days.  God bless to his family.  Mr. Casey was a great man and will always be remembered by those who knew him.

My best memories was at Holy Rosary with my mom and sister Kimi our joking and laughing at mom on that bike !!! and having lunch wuth the camping group on wednesday  He was there for the loss of my mom Bettye and Bobby's dad Willie

I am so sorry to hear the passing of one Amazing man!!! He had a passion for children to learn and be ready for the work force. I think he told every student to come back and see him when you graduate. I had the privledge to work as a teachers aide and as Library clerk. I enjoyed every minute of working with The wonderful man. To the family I wish you all the comfort at this time. God will see you through it. Rest In Peace Mr. Joseph Casey!

I was a student at Sheffield elementary school and he touched my heart in more ways then one.what a great man.mentor.and teacher he will be greatly missed...

All these beautiful messages have brought a smile to my face. My grandfather was truly an amazing man and I miss him so much. He's been an inspiration to me since I was a little girl. I'm posting a picture, the most recent one taken of him, when he held my daughter for the first time a couple months ago. He was crazy about Harley. His face lit up every time he saw her. His last words to me were "Give the baby a hug and kiss for me".

Mr. Casey was the absolute best teacher I ever had. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great man.

I taught with Mr. Casey for many years at Sheffield. Great teacher and our classes were known for our baseball competition at the end of the year. He was my computer pal when we were first getting them in schools ! He touched many lives as a teacher.

He was the best and most influential teacher I have ever had. I spoke with him a few months ago and finally had the time to tell him so. His face lit up and he just smiled so proud! God speed Mr. Casey. I will never forget you!

Mr. Casey was the best teacher I ever had and I feel very honored to have been one of his students. He had such an amazing way with children and made learning fun and exciting everyday. One teacher I will never forget. He made 5th grade so fun and he knew how to keep your attention, and you were always laughing and having fun and never knew you were learning at the same time. What a passion he had for teaching. Thoughts and prayers to his family during this time.

Mr. Casey was my favorite teacher of all time.  I had him in 5th grade at Sheffield Elementary, and he instilled in his students a sense of pride in themselves and gave everyone the confidence to be the best they could be.  He expected so much of his young students, but I never forgot his style and his demeanor, which always included the way he walked through the halls, head held high and proud, with briefcase in hand, wearing his daily short-sleeved business shirt and clip on tie.  I contacted him several years ago, before I had children of my own, to tell him what he had meant to me as a teacher.  I am so glad I got to tell him.  I will never forget Mr. Casey.  He will be missed by all his students.

What a great man!  He was my 5th grade teacher and I remember him saying I want to see you after you graduate.  I did just that and the desks were so small.  What an impression he made on me and he will live on with my stories about him to my children, friends and family.

My family and I are so saddened by the passing of Joe.  When we found out Saturday morning it was a shock.  We will always remember the great times at Holy Rosary, doing food baskets and laughing!  Camping and seeing the lights at Callaway Gardens.  Stay strong, and Gladys, you and the kids are in our prayers

I am so sad to hear of my Uncle Joe's passing. He was a good, kind man who took care of his family. I have so many great memories of him and Aunt Gladys. He did keep everyone around him smiling. The last time I saw Aunt Gladys and him was last spring when my family and I were visiting Florida and some of us got together at Uncle Ron and Aunt Pat's. It was a great time and I'm glad my boy, Sam got to meet him. Godspeed Uncle Joe. I'm gonna miss you. Mike
