It is with sincerity that we announce our beloved Joseph Scott Skinner, of Jacksonville, Florida, found his peace on Saturday, April 20, 2019. The baby of four children, he was born in Oxnard, CA on June 27, 1995 to William Skinner and Chacita Woodard.
Joey was full of life and charmed anyone he came across with his contagious smile and bright sense of humor. A kid at heart, he enjoyed hiking, gaming, going to the beach, snowboarding and swimming. A natural born leader, Joey was very unique in that he had the ability to step outside of all trends, no matter what the “in-crowd” was doing. In true Joey fashion, he thought it was cooler to remain true to himself.
As smart as he was charismatic, Joey graduated Jacksonville’s Sandalwood High School in 2013 and later served our country in the United States Navy. He wore his uniform with pride, often showing his dimpled (and mischievous) grin in pictures taken from around the world. Some would say he was “too” intelligent at times, as in recent months he was not only studying Engineering, but also studying for classes he had not yet enrolled in.
Our angel was preceded in death by his aunt, Alicia Gurchak, and his grandmother, Joyce Bateman. Though he leaves us in the physical, his spirit will live on through his mother, Chacita Conlon, his father William Skinner, his step-father, Kevin Conlon, his sister, Cheri Hewlett, his brothers Keith Snider and Billy Skinner, and his nephews, Govan, Stevan and Jueles.
Thank you, Joey, for allowing us to love you and to be loved by you in return.
Forever Yours,
The Family
