Josephine M. Romo

Josephine Martha Romo, 76, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2012. She was born on March 19, 1936 in Bracketteville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agatho and Tranquilina (Olvera) Castro; brothers, Agatho Castro Jr., Martin Castro, Gene Joe Castro, Abraham Castro, Lionel Castro, William Castro; and sisters, Antonette Wren, Lillian Warren, and Virginia Garcia.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hicks, husband David; son, Agatho Romo; grandchildren, Mariah Medina, Janelle Medina, Brittney Hicks, and Brandon Hicks; sisters, Agatha Gandara and Jessie Castro; sister-in-law Alice Garza Castro; brother-in-law Ramon Garcia, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Josephine grew up in Houston, Texas; graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1955; and worked as a pricing clerk at N. Merfish Supply Company prior to moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1996 to live with her daughter’s family. A very special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at West Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation for caring for her during the past five years. Josephine loved the Lord with all her heart and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2012 at 7 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8081 Lenox Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32221, with Pastor Jay Stuckey officiating.
