Joyce Ann Scoggins

Joyce Register Scoggins, 74, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed away peacefully on June 28, 2022. Born on September 7, 1947 in Tampa, Fl. Joyce moved to Jacksonville in 1960. She met her husband of 55 years, David Scoggins while attending Terry Parker High School. Her compassionate heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed. Joyce touched the lives of many while working at Merrill Road Elementary for over 25 years. She was adored by her students and was often showered with hugs and thank-yous years later when she would see them grown up and working in the community. Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents, Wilbur and Dorothy Register. She is survived by her husband, David Scoggins; brother: Douglas Register (Vicki); sister: Brenda Curbow (Dave); sons: Michael Scoggins (Chrissy) and Stephen Scoggins; daughters: Melissa Kennedy (Eric) and Sarah Heflin (Max); grandchildren: Meagan Mayotte (Michael), Eric Kennedy Jr, Kodie Kennedy, Jacob Hein, Thomas Scoggins and Alexis Scoggins and best friends of many years: Janet Kearney and Elaine Galbraith. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022 in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at 11 AM at Moniac Cemetery on Saturday, Jul 2, 2022.
