On Sunday, April 2, 2023, Judy Stinchfield Klein left our world and transitioned to her maker, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 31, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, she spent the 84 years of her life spreading love and joy to all she met.
Known and loved by many, Judy never met a stranger. She could be described as adventurous, fun loving, compassionate, caring and strong. But mostly she will be remembered for her unconditional love and ability to make everyone she met feel special. During her life, she lived in California, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Colorado, and perhaps her favorite - Northeast Florida. She was blessed to travel extensively and see so much of the world. In addition to raising a large and extended family, she opened and ran three distinct businesses that included Ragamuffin Alley, a children's clothing boutique in Greenwich CT; Storybrook Restoration, a property restoration firm in New Hampshire; and finally Be Nailed, a chain of nail salons in Jacksonville, Florida. Judy was also an active volunteer throughout her life with her most passionate project in the Jacksonville area being to support St. Gerard Home and School for unwed mothers in St. Augustine.
Judy is predeceased by her parents Grant Preston Stinchfield and Marguerite Lucille Johnson Stinchfield. She is survived by her husband of 63 years August Peter Klein (Jacksonville, Florida); her five children Marguerite Mumford married to Michael Mumford (Jacksonville, Florida), Therese Lavely (Jacksonville, Florida), Susan Raver married to Stephen Raver (Atlanta, Georgia), August Klein II (Jacksonville, Florida) and Christopher Klein married to Cathy Klein (Jacksonville, Florida). In addition to her children, she leaves behind 8 grandchildren (Emma Thomas, Tabytha Hill, Caitlin Knoll, Christian Raver, Jack Lavely, Michael Mumford, Ryan Klein and Sean Klein), 5 great children (Brianna Reed, Bella Thomas, Asa Hill, Maya Knoll and Quinn Knoll), and 4 brothers (Grant Stinchfield, Charlie Stinchfield, Richard Stinchfield and John Stinchfield) as well as all of their families, who felt and cherished her abundant love. It is impossible to list all the family members who benefited from knowing her. Her family, extended family and circle of loved ones was large and the size was only eclipsed by the amount of love she had for all and the joy she felt when being with them.
A memorial mass will be held at 9am on April 22, 2023 at San Jose Catholic Church at 3619 Toledo Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32217. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to North Florida School of Special Education be made. This is the amazing school that her grandson, Sean Klein, attends and has benefited from. Donations may be mailed to the school at 223 Mill Creek Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211. Please make checks payable to: The North Florida School of Special Education with Judy's name on the comment line. Donations may also be made online at www.northfloridaschool.com and dedicated to her memory. The family appreciates the outpouring of love we have all received in her honor.
