Karen Christopher Smith

Karen Christopher Smith was born to JC and Sally Christopher on 5-22-1957 in Gainesville, FL. She attended Ft White elementary school, and graduated from Branford high school in 1975, where she served as class president, cheerleader, and Ms Branford High School. She was crowned Newberry Watermelon Queen in 1975. She graduated from LCCC in 1977 with an AS in nursing. She began her nursing career as an RN at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, where she worked for 8 years. In 1987, she went to work for Baptist Hospital in Jaksonville. Ater a brief time in Clearwater and Jax Surgery Center, she began employment at St Lukes. She finished her nursing career at Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville in 2014. She is survived by husband Donald W Smith, daughter Heather Smith Visali, son Don Smith Jr., and son Christopher Smith, two grandchildren, Michael Visali & Bella Smith, a brother Clarke (Jane) Christopher, nephews John and Keith (Heather) Christopher, great niece Lindsey Paige Chrisopher, and great nephew William Chase Christopher. Also leaving behind many friends... The family will receive friends at The Oaklawn Chapel from five o'clock until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, 32256. Interment will take place at three o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday at Fort White City Cemetery, Fort White, Florida. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family.
