Katherine P. Smith Chisholm

She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School 1955. In 1978, Katherine married her best friend Aubrey (Gil) Chisholm . She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Her true passion was being a mother and raising her children. Katherine taught us the truest meaning of unconditional love. The mountains of North Carolina are where she left her heart and many lifelong friends. She loved the wind, the change of seasons, and Christmas. Katherine will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 37 years, Aubrey “Gil” Chisholm; son Ronald “Bo” B. Waites, Jr. (Ann); daughters Rhonda M. Waites and Lisa Rene Umstattd (James H.); grandchildren Joshua Daniel Clark, Ryan Matthew Clark, Jordan Rachel Ritzert, Presley Taylore Umstattd, Ashley Nicole Pell and Morgan Elizabeth Waites; and her great-grandchildren Derek Bowen Pell, Hailey Elizabeth Largen, Tyler Matthew Largen, Bella Grace Largen, Aiden Michael Clark, Liam Daniel Clark, Adalynn Marie Clark, Aubrey Maeve Clark and Harper Jane Clark. She is predeceased by her parents Merle Marie (Ramsey) Smith and Alfred Martin Smith and her sister Marcella Smith Olliff.
