Lafay "Gene" Eugene Carroll

LaFay Eugene Carroll was born in Jacksonville, FL. He worked with the City of Jax for 20 years before retiring. He also owned Carroll’s heating and A/C. After he retired he started working in Saudia Arabia, Ohio, Wyoming, Maine, Jamacia, Georgia, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. After he retired from those jobs he bought Pizza King in Green Cove Springs. He loved fishing, golfing, hunting and cooking BBQ, but most of all he loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved sharing it with others.

He also loved his family, friends and his beautiful wife. He is survived by his wife Ethel Lorene, three sons LaFay Eugene Carroll Jr (Charlie), James Duke Carroll (Shirley), John Randall Carroll and daughter Julie Ann Carroll. 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5490 County Road 210 West, Saint Johns, FL 32259, with Bishop Jordan Post, as Officiant, followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville FL 32218.
