Lawrence "Larry" Jones

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Schleicher Jones; daughters, Christy Gillard (Dave), and Brooke Murphy; four grandsons, Chas Gillard, Tanner Gillard, William Murphy and Logan Murphy; mother, Dorothy Ellington; brothers, Jimmy Jones (Jody), Mickey Jones (Rosanne), David Ellington (Charlotte); sisters, Karen Jones and Becky Asay (Robbie).

Larry was preceded in death by his father, James H. Jones; step-father, Jesse Ellington; sister, Donna Coldwater; and nephew, Jeff Sutterfield.

Larry was an avid Florida Gator fan. All his life, Larry enjoyed the outdoors. From working in his yard and garden to the beach, surfing and fishing. He played softball for several church leagues throughout the years, as well as a senior league. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains of TN and NC, including hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail.

He was a dedicated associate of Southeast Toyota Distributors for 50 years.

Special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Ascension St Vincent’s Riverside 2900 and 3900 for their compassion and dedication in caring for Larry.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 3, 2026, beginning at 10am and until service time at 11am, at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223.
