

Lawrence Donald (Larry) Coleman, age 77, passed away March 19, 2017, at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Larry, a native of Washington DC, retired from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years, which included two tours in Vietnam. He began another career with the United States Post Office from which he retired after 20 years as a manager. Larry’s passion was his love for the game of Pinochle. He was a longtime member of the National Pinochle Association and the Metropolitan Pinochle Social Club of Washington DC. Since relocating to Florida in 2006, he has been a member of the Jacksonville Pinochle Club. He enjoyed traveling from coast to coast for a long weekend of cards and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Coleman and Willie Mae Skinner; and his brother, James Coleman. He leaves to cherish precious memories his devoted wife Sharon; his children Leonette McIntyre, Lamont Coleman (Stacey), Lawren Coleman (Anitra), and Leslie Mobley; two sisters, Irene Stewart and Brenda Alston; stepdaughter Sherisse Watson (Robert); his sisters-in-law Barbara Simms (Leon), Paulette Harris, and Stacie Barnes; his brothers-in-law Alvin, Patrick, and Kenneth (Terry) Barnes; and a host of beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. On Sunday, March 26, Larry's viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:30pm at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. The funeral service will be from 2:30 to 3:30pm. Repast immediately following the service. Larry will be laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1pm on Monday, March 27, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
