

Lorraine Lewis Corey, 92, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024. She was born January 20, 1932, to parents Tony and Mary Bachara Lewis in Oceanway. She attended local schools and graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1949.
Lorraine was a faithful and active member of St. John’s Cathedral since 1952. At St. John’s, she was Directress of the Sanctuary Guild, Wedding Coordinator and Cathedral Hostess for Dean Robert Ray Parks.
Lorraine enjoyed 20 years of employment with Catherine’s Dress Shop and 6 years at Cerebral Palsy of Northeast Florida.
She was past president of the Molaka Club and the Syrian Woman’s Charity Society and a lifetime member of the Salaam Club of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67½ years, Thomas S. Corey, Jr., her parents, brothers George and Richard and sisters Nell and Vivian.
She is survived by daughters Susan, Angela, Cathy and Marlo and son-in-law Ronnie Thigpen, son Tom III and daughter-in-love Tammie, grandson Thomas IV (Emily), granddaughters Tara (Dion Jones, II), Renee (Alex Ellis) and Abigail, great-grandchildren, Dion III, Dylan, Allison Grace, Aubree Lorraine and Lily Nicole.
The family gratefully acknowledges Community Hospice - Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring for their care and compassion.
A visitation will be held at the Salaam Club, 8101 Beach Blvd., on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:30pm.
A celebration of Sweet Lorraine’s life will be held at St. John’s Cathedral, 256 East Church Street, on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00am.
Lorraine’s ashes are interred with her husband’s in the Bishop’s Garden at St. John’s Cathedral.
The family sincerely requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorraine’s honor be made to The Cathedral School, 330 N. Market Street, Jacksonville, 32202 and The Salaam Club Scholarship Fund, 8101 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, 32216.
