

Best known as “Jack”, he was voluntarily recalled to Active Duty after the 9-11 attacks on the United States to work on a special anti-terrorism task force with the USCG. Subsequently, he was selected to serve on the WWII 60th Anniversary Commemorative Committee. He also worked for and retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Born on November 29, 1948 in Paterson, NJ, he was a graduate of Jacksonville University and obtained a Masters degree from the National Graduate School. He attended the Christian Family Chapel and was active in sponsoring and supporting local Special Olympic events.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Phyllis; son, Kevin Dunphy; daughter, Kristen Torres (Milton); father, Thomas Dunphy; sister, Joanne Longhi (Dan).
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, September 23rd in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 24th in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
