Phyllis, Linda and I are very sadddened to learn about Jack's passing. We learned about this through the CG Retiree Newsletter. 

Linda and I think very highly of both you and Jack; and remember our social times at Oakwood Apartments. 

Not getting to know you and Jack better was certainly our loss. You probably recall that I commuted home to Delaware every weekend and some evenings. From a personal perspective, I enjoyed working with Jack; and valued his opinions because they were always well researched, thoughout, and clearly communicated.

I feel very lucky and blessed to have known and worked with Jack on the WWII 60th Anniv Commemoration Committee.  We had so much fun with the WWII Veterans!  Even after the committee concluded, Jack took special care to remain in touch with the entire commemoration team, essentially holding us together.  His consistent example of kindness, compassion, and friendship will remain with me forever. I'll miss you Jack! Sending much love and many blessings to Phyllis and Family.

Jack, I can still recall our days in high school together, our football games in the park, going to your home and irritating your sister and many more memories.

I served with Jack for almost 10 years at CGRU Base Mayport. He was a fine man and excellent CG officer. His dry sense of humor took the edge off many stressful situations. I was very saddened and shocked to hear of his prolonged illness and death. My prayers are with his family.

I'm truly sick over our loss!  I've been praying for you guys ever since learning the bad news.  I am so very sorry for all that you're enduring.  You will remain in my prayers.

Words cannot express how sad Michael and I are to hear of Jack's passing.  He was such a great guy.  I found that he could always bring a smile to me when things became stressful.  He was so passionate about our veterans and was such an asset to the WWII 60th. We will always fondly remember our express trip to Paris following the Normandy Commemoration. Please let us know if there is anything you need.

My Uncle Jack was an amazing father,son, brother, Uncle and HERO to his country.     I will never forget his quick-wit,  humor and teasing nature which was usually directed at my mom.  Uncle Jack had an enormous amount of love for his family,espcially for my Aunt "Phyphy" Phyllis.   It was wonderful to see two people that loved each other so much.  They were always so affectionate and cute, even after 32 years.  

I am so thankful that Jack is no longer in pain, he fought a strong and courageous battle.  I love and miss him very much.

Jack was a great man and a good friend. We all will miss him.

Dear Phyllis,Kevin & Kristen,
I am so sorry to hear about Jack passing away. I know that this is a hard time for all of you right now, but just know that we are all thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers. Phyllis I have such wonderful memories from when we lived across from each other on Marty Ct. you and Jack were wonderful to be around, and Jack was always so easy going and never got upset even when he would come home from work to find that you and I had changed things around in the house. I know that you and the children will really miss Jack but he is in such a better place and will be waiting to see all of us again one day. Phyllis I can truly say that anyone who knew you and the family could see all the love that you all had for each other, and that you and Jack had a love for each other that other people could only wish for. May God bless all of you and give you comfort at this time. And I am happy that I have all the wonderful memories from all these years of having all of you in my life. I first met Jack during the first Gulf War where as an E5 he was my supervisor at Blount Island. We be came friends since we shared a common civilian background and he also became a mentor for me as I was commissioned and needed to learn the ropes as a junior officer. His passing was certainly a shock and a loss to both his family and his country that he served so nobly. I wish I could be there to give a farewell salute, Semper Paratus Jack.

Phyllis, As you know, I had the pleasure of recalling Jack to active duty after 9/11. Jack was ready, willing and able and reported for duty with great energy and enthusiasm. He truly loved the Coast Guard and was honored to serve his beloved service and country.  Jack touched many lives and his work made an impact on our mission to secure our country from terrorism.  Jack represented the Coast Guard well on the WWII Memorial as the nation payed tribute to our Greatest Generation. LCDR Jack Dunphy was a great shipmate and friend. He led by example and gave his best in all that he did.
