Margaret Lorraine Hendrix, lovingly known as Peggy, passed away peacefully at age 99 on February 28th, 2024 in Jacksonville, Florida. Peggy was born May 29th, 1924 to George Pettite and Ida Hammond in Westwood, NJ.
Peggy graduated Pearl River High School in 1941 and worked as a train stewardess serving soldiers and civilians. She also worked for the City of Jacksonville for several years, as well as the Jacksonville Colosseum. Peggy was a long-standing member of the Firemen’s Wives of Jacksonville.
Peggy married Maurice “Mack” Hendrix on June 18th, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida. They went on to have 2 children, Sharon and Linda.
Peggy was unfortunately predeceased by her husband, Mack, her daughters, Sharon Cook and Linda McCoy, and her grandson, Byron Matthew Cook. She is survived by her granddaughter, Tami Cook, great-grandchildren Khristian Hunt, Heather Flores, Faith Cook, Hope Cook, and Sydney Carmichael, and great-great-grandchildren Mason, Sophia, Lori, Lily, and Delilah.
A memorial service for Peggy will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
