Margaret Bellwood Mason

Margaret A. Bellwood Mason passed away peacefully on May 23, 2021, with her children by her side. Margaret was born September 17, 1938, in Deland, FL. She was the last surviving sibling of seven children of Christopher Columbus and Vardell Rebecca Beach. Margaret was a member of the Hicks of ’56 from Deland High School. She married Cecil C. Bellwood, Sr., and they raised four children together. Margaret was a long-time healthcare worker starting as a candy striper at age 15. She spent many years as a unit secretary at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Margaret and Cecil spent many years in service to her Lord at Ortega Baptist Church. She loved cooking, gardening and telling others that Jesus loves them. She had a giving spirit and was always ready to help others in need. After Cecil passed away in 2000, Margaret married Broadus Lee Mason, Jr., in 2003 and they were members of Destination Church. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, siblings, first and second husbands, son Cecil C. Bellwood, Jr., three granddaughters Melissa Marie Gonzalez, Alicia Marie Bellwood and Christina Marie Bellwood. Margaret is survived by her children Carol B. Gonzalez, Timothy C. Bellwood (Aishell), Rebecca B. Sargent (Dennis), five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Once her first grandchild was born, she was forever known as Mimi. A private burial was held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family expresses their deep appreciation to Community Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful care of Mimi in her final two weeks.
