After retiring in 1980, she spent much of her time with family, tending to her home and garden, cooking, and making award-winning baked items for state fairs. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1991 with her husband to be near her son, she unfortunately had to deal with one medical issue after another; through it all, however, she kept her positive attitude.
