Born on October 3, 1960 in Jacksonville, Mark was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville who lived on the westside his entire life. He graduated from Nathan B. Forrest High School in 1978. He worked in the electrical supply business for many years where he made several lasting friendships. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and cook. He also enjoyed watching his sons play baseball and taking camping trips with his friends and family.
Mark was always a fun-loving person who wanted to be in the woods running dogs or out on the water catching fish or shrimping. Every year on Memorial Day weekend he could be found at Ginnie Springs camping, floating down the river and cooking out with friends from the Wednesday before the holiday all the way through the weekend. He prided himself on his ability to man the grill for hours on end and feed the masses. He really enjoyed taking care of others in that way.
In recent years, his struggle with addiction took him down a dark path that prevented the Mark that we all knew and loved from being with us. His family asks that you remember him for the person he truly was before the darkness took hold of him.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Neil and Loveeda Brown. He is survived by his sons Kyle (Hilary) and Billy, his former wife Tammy, his grandchildren Wyatt, Waylon and Sailor, his sister Gwen Mead (Leroy), his brothers Mike (Teresa) and Matthew and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of sending flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation in his name to Set Free by the Sea, https://setfreechurchnefl.com/give. Their purpose is to share Jesus with people distressed through life’s crises: drug addiction, alcoholism, homelessness, or a lack of self-discipline and purpose in life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Park City Baptist Church, 7410 Park City Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32244.
