Mark Talbott Kinevan, a veteran in the energy industry and a cherished pillar of his family, peacefully departed on November 16, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of brilliance and love. At 69 years old, his passing leaves a void felt deeply by his family, friends, and the industry where his influence resonates.

Mark's professional journey was marked by expertise and unwavering dedication. As The Energy Authority's (TEA) vice president of energy trading and chief operating officer, his leadership shaped strategies for short- and long-term energy marketing and trading, revolutionizing wholesale power and fuel price risk management. His innovative spirit and strategic foresight were guiding forces in executing diverse transactions and optimizing power supply assets.

With over 35 years of industry experience, Mark's tenure at TEA showcased his comprehensive understanding of commercial and non-commercial facets, notably during his tenure as vice president of risk control and strategic planning.

Before his tenure at TEA, Mark held pivotal roles, notably as the vice president and chief trading officer for the Montana Power Trading & Marketing Company. His visionary oversight of risk management strategies across various energy sectors was instrumental in setting industry benchmarks. Mark's journey began as a geophysicist at a leading integrated oil company, setting the stage for his illustrious career. His academic achievements, including a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from the Colorado School of Mines, complemented his natural leadership abilities.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mark enjoyed traveling, especially to Switzerland, where he spent many happy vacations with his devoted wife, Pam, and their family. He had a deep love for jazz music, enjoyed photography, and treasured capturing life's moments. Mark found delight in fine dining and wine, appreciating the flavors that brought people together. His various passions added richness to his life and the lives of those around him.

Mark was the heart of a loving family. His 41-year marriage to Pam was a testament to enduring love. Together, they raised two daughters, Shannon and Colleen, and reveled in the joy of two grandsons, Benjamin and Liam, and a granddaughter, Genevieve. His sister, Joan, and niece, Amy, were also cherished recipients of his boundless love and support.

Mark was a devoted father who dedicated countless hours reading to his children, aiding in their studies, and patiently teaching them to drive. His unwavering support and encouragement propelled his children to reach their fullest potential.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Abby, one of Mark's caregivers towards the end. Her compassion and dedication brought comfort and solace during his final days.

A celebration of Life will be for Mark at Villariva, 2358 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32204, on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.

Mark, your brilliance and love continue to shine in our hearts. Rest peacefully, knowing that your legacy of kindness and unwavering support will endure in the lives of those who were fortunate to know and love you.
