

Mark Meatte was born February 15, 1950 to Luke L. and Charlotte McCrate Meatte in Columbia, Missouri. He passed on August 8, 2016. He was the second of 14 children. Mark married Helen Fay Merin in the summer of 1975. He was able to get through both primary and secondary school without distinction. Ultimately he graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering making both Dean’s Lists during his tenure there.
He was licensed as an Architect in 1976 in the State of Illinois, and subsequently in Florida and Georgia. He was certified by both National Council of Architectural Boards and the American College of Healthcare Architects. His practice area was focused on healthcare design. Mark worked for most of the major medical centers in Jacksonville and in the southeast US. Mark and family moved to Jacksonville in 1987. He earned an MBA degree from University of North Florida in 2000. He was a long term Trustee for Daniel Memorial, an active Rotarian for many years. He was a Guardian ad Litem volunteer and United Way’s VITA program volunteer. He enjoyed shooting sports and participated and lead many fundraisers.
Mark is survived by his wife, Helen; and children, David (Courtney) Meatte, and Leah (Court) Aiken; four grandchildren; twelve siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews; and his mother, Charlotte Meatte.
We will celebrate Mark’s life and all that he meant to each of us, beginning at 1pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida. 32207. Burial will be private.
