It is with great sadness that the Family of Mary Vernice McPherson announces her passing on September 12, 2018, at the age of 78 years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Connie McCluskey and Rosemary Darlington, brother Steven Wilson, step-children Jill McPherson and Basil McPherson, grandchildren Tiffanie Pindell, Melanie Rodriguez, Ashley Darlington and Steven Darlington, great-grandchildren Gabriel Rodriguez and Isabela Rodriguez.
Mary was born to Guy and Vernice Wilson of Sikeston Missouri. She married after high school and had two daughters. Mary was athletic and enjoyed basketball, softball, bowling, boating and waterskiing. Danced and sang in Orange Park Community Theater musical “All The Girls Came Out to Play”. Mary had a long career working for Underwood Jewelers and Independent Life Fire Company in the Home Service Underwriting Department. Mary developed a passion for travel while living abroad in Sicily. She can be seen in photos from Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Morocco. Personal favorite is her story of the camel ride in Morocco.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel and Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. A reception will be offered immediately following the services.
