Juanita was married to her late husband Jake Melcolm for 56 wonderful years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She was born in Perry Florida in 1936 where she came from a family of 10 siblings. At 24 she met the love of her life on Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and they started their lives together. She worked at American National Bank for many years before she found her home at Hendricks Avenue Elementary School, where she later retired. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards with her friends, attending church at Fruit Cove Baptist Church, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her four children, Sandi Melcolm, Donna (Charlie) Laskey, Rusty (Kim) Melcolm, and Wendi Melcolm: seven grandchildren, Taylor (Ryan) Fitzpatrick, Reed (Sanna) Melcolm, Jessie Melcolm, Skylar (Carson) Leonard, Sydney Carter, and Rachel Laskey: six great grandchildren Easton, Lily, Beckett, Gunner, Cooper, and Remi.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM Friday March 8, 2024, at her daughter's home:
