I will always remember Michael for the beautiful Torah lessons he gave me.  I loved our discussions and learned so much from him.  My best memory of Michael was through the love stories shared from Fern about their marriage being b'sherit.  The love between Michael and his family was a blessing to witness.  May his memory always be for a blessing and may Fern, Rebecca and Julia be comforted among the mourners of Zion.

I am so sorry to hear of michael's death. As a fellow physician, I remember Michael coming to my office shortly after arriving in jacksonville and starting a great professional relationship with his radiology group and my practice.  He was always courteous, insightful, and skillful in his practice and an exemplary physician.  He helped more patients with his diagnostic acumen than I can imagine.  My patients, staff, and myself will always be grateful to Michael and remember him fondly.  God bless you all.----mark peacock, M.D.

There are not a lot of high quality people these days, but Michael was one of them. He was a man of truth and integrity, a great friend and supporter. It is a shock to lose him so young, and I pray that his wife and children find comfort in spite of the great loss.

Dear Fern and Family,

It seems surreal to me, Michael's passing.  I studied Torah for roughly four years with him, via Skype, the phone, and e-mail, as well as discussed Jewish issues, and life.  We talked about all sorts of matters, including politics and science, while studying Torah.  This individual became a messenger, a friend, and even like family.  He will be missed by me.  This person was selfless, giving of himself through prayer, patience, and the like.  

Through Aish's Partners in Torah program, is how I got connected to this man, quite a while ago.  He felt like a part of my extended family.  I wanted to meet him, if I was in his neck of the woods.  He didn't believe that was necessary, because he was there for me as a messenger.  It will be hard to find another Torah partner and teacher like him.

We were devastated to learn of Mike's passing.  

He was so powerful in his learning, in his mitzvos, in his kindness, and he gave of himself so freely.  To Ronnie, especially, he became a mentor.

Mike may be gone, but the mitzvahs he accomplished with continue and continue. If the reward for a mitzvah is a mitzvah, then every mitzvah Ronnie does, and especially every time Ronnie davens with the tallis and the tfillin that Mike gave him, it is counted for Mike, as Mike was in every way his example.  

And I know that Ronnie is only one of many.

May each of you and all of you be comforted among the mourners of Zion.

My heart is heavy with your loss. Girls your father was a mench and loved you both very much. Fern, not only was he your love and lifelong friend but when he spoke of you his whole being lit up. Find comfort that his love will be with all of you always.

There will never be a day in our lives when the goodness and kindness of our dear Michael will be forgotten and not missed. We have a hole in our hearts. More than just a friend and mentor and study partner; he was my brother.

For over a dozen wonderful years, I had the honor of learning Tanakh with Michael on a weekly basis for an hour or more.  His brilliance was rivaled only by his goodness.  His uncanny ability to extrapolate layer upon layer of our learning with wit, erudition and teaching skills - all the while challenging me and ultimately refining it to my level of understanding is irreplaceable.  He was a true mensch who was always dependable for personal support as well.  I will miss you my dear friend.  My condolences to Fern, Rebecca and Julia.  Love, Blair

Michael was one of the most humble, kind, generous, intelligent persons we've ever known.
