Mildred Pauline Bass

Mildred Bass, 95, passed away at home on February 21, 2022. She was born in Telfair County, Georgia and lived there until she moved to Jacksonville as a teenager with her family. Mildred met and married her future husband Henry Bass and along with their daughter, Bobbie Jean, and son Frank they settled into the Windy Hill community where she was active in the neighborhood. She volunteered in the clinic at Windy Hill Elementary for years. Mildred, always strong in her faith, was a longtime member of Windy Hill Baptist Church, now known as Forest Blvd Baptist Church. She was the treasurer for many years and also worked in the nursery. Mildred loved children and started her own home daycare, where through the years many children were loved like grandchildren by “Granny”.

Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry, after forty-five years of marriage. She joined Henry on the eve of their seventy-fifth wedding anniversary. She is also joining her daughter, Bobbie Jean Everett and great-grandson Jarrett Williams, who passed at birth. In addition, her parents and siblings were waiting to greet her in celebration. Mildred lived a long life and will be missed by her son, Frank Bass (Susan), granddaughters Lisa O’Kelley (Darren), Terri Williams and Erin Bass and only grandson Ryan Bass (Kelly). Mildred will also be missed by great granddaughters Kari “Alex” Williams, Amanda O’Kelley, Jessica O’Kelley and Abigail Williams. She leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Mildred was always there for anyone in need and touched the lives of many. She was a loving wife to one, mother to two, grandmother to eight, but she was Granny to all.

A graveside service for Mildred will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Graveside visitation with the family will start at 10:30.
