MINTA - Moira Shannon Minta passed away at home on June 15, 2021 after her battle with breast cancer. Born in Chicago on September 29, 1957, Moira and her husband, James, were happily married for more than 40 years and are long-time residents of Jacksonville. Moira dedicated her life to selfless service, happily devoting more than 20 years of her life to supporting the missions of Community Hospice and Palliative Care. Moira was also an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and shared her unwavering faith with everyone she met. She loved spending time on the beach, finding strength and solace in the sun, sand, and waves. An ardent Notre Dame fan and proud St. Mary’s College graduate, Moira never missed an opportunity to support either and committed countless hours to the Notre Dame Club of North Florida over the years.
More than anything, Moira lived for her family and her friends, selflessly giving of herself and cherishing any time spent together. Her greatest joy was being with her family, laughing, and making memories. Moira is survived by her husband, Jim Minta; her children, Joey (Megan) Minta, Tommy (Lauren) Minta, and Colleen (Patrick) Mac Carthaigh; her grandchildren, Everett Minta, Gibson Minta, Henry Minta, and fourth grandson expected soon; and her granddogs, Sophie and Ellie. She is also survived by her sisters, Patty (Rob) LaBarge, Rosemarie (Jeff) Knoll, and Peggy (Tony) Albachiara. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care, www.communityhospice.com. A funeral celebration will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, June 26th at 11:30 a.m. The funeral Mass will also be live-streamed at https://holyfamilyjax.com/news/livestreaming . There will be a reception following the Mass at Deercreek Country Club.
