POGGI - Molly Irene Poggi - Molly was born December 3, 1927 in Bexley-Heath, Kent, England; only child of the late William and Florence Cairns Walden, was called by our Lord into His eternal care on April 19, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida.
During her teens, she survived the London Blitz by Nazi Germany, spending many frightening hours in bomb shelters. In 1945, she met the love of her life, Thomas Patrick Poggi, a “yank” from New York City, who was serving in the Army Air Corps in England. In 1947, she left her homeland and family to immigrate to the US and married Tom, a love affair that lasted until his untimely death in 1991.
She was a fantastic cook, a history buff and voracious reader. Her passions were quilting and gardening, replicating the beauty of English gardens at her home In Massapequa, NY.
In addition to being a loving wife, beloved mother to Linda and Tom, she was a devoted and true friend.
We will remember her beautiful smile, sparkling eyes, laughter, warmth, energy, her love for life, family, friends and God.
